ACICA marked another milestone year in 2025, recording strong caseload growth and continued international reach across its administered arbitration work.
Key figures for 2025 include:
• 50 administered matters
• 14 new administered arbitration cases
• $5.4 billion+ in total quantified value
• Nearly 40% of arbitrations involved international parties
• 50% of ACICA’s arbitrator appointments were women
Construction and infrastructure remained the most prevalent sector, representing close to 40% of cases, followed by energy and share sale disputes. The year also saw notable growth in disputes arising from emerging sectors, including cryptocurrency and online content creation.
Sydney continued to be the preferred seat of arbitration, selected in 50% of new arbitrations.
ACICA also demonstrated a strong commitment to nurturing the next generation of arbitration practitioners, with 75% of arbitrators appointed directly by ACICA in 2025 being first-time appointees in an ACICA-administered arbitration.
