ACICA extends its thanks to all who attended the ACICA/CIArb Australia International Arbitration Conference in Brisbane last week and all other events held throughout Australian Arbitration Week 2019.

This was the 7th annual Arbitration Week in Australia and proved to be a record year with 20 events held over 4 days. The Conference was fully subscribed with speakers and participants attending from jurisdictions around the world, including Singapore, Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China, UK, UAE, Qatar, Canada, France, Germany, USA and Brunei.

At the Conference, ACICA President Brenda Horrigan spoke of the current ACICA national survey exploring the use of arbitration in the context of Australia. The results of the survey will inform collective efforts to promote commercial arbitration in Australia and enhance the practice of arbitration in Australia. The survey provides a unique opportunity for practitioners to have a say about what is and is not working in arbitration, to help drive changes in perception and practice. To this end, we would like to hear from those with experiences of arbitration with an Australian connection and encourage you to take part in the survey.

We look forward to seeing everyone again for Australian Arbitration Week 2020!
