Why Choose ACICA?

ACICA is a trusted, independent and effective arbitral institution

ACICA is Australia’s international dispute resolution institution. Established in 1985 as an independent not-for-profit organisation, ACICA offers efficient, neutral and high-quality case management services to deliver enforceable outcomes.

Modern international best practice

The ACICA Rules 2021 reflect international best practice offering parties a flexible and tailored experience. Users benefit from provisions that include robust time limits for rendering awards; transparency and close management of costs; streamlined processes for multi-party, multi-contract disputes; early dismissal of claims and encouraging use of other forms of ADR for early settlement; as well as emergency arbitration for those seeking urgent relief.

Trusted to handle high value international disputes

ACICA is regularly selected to handle high value complex disputes. ACICA has administered cases with a total value of almost AUD$25.5 billion from just under 140 administered cases (as at 31 December 2023). Typically, over 70% of cases are international involving at least one non-Australian party. Considered to be a truly independent and experienced institution, ACICA is commonly chosen for disputes involving Australian and foreign parties.
