Statutory Appointment Functions

ACICA is designated as the appointing authority under various Australian legislative instruments.  More information in relation to the process for appointment under relevant statutes can be found here.

Ad Hoc Appointments

ACICA can also act as the appointing authority in an ad hoc arbitration (where the arbitration is not being administered by ACICA or another arbitral institution) to prevent any delay that may be caused by parties failing to reach an agreement on the identity of an arbitrator / arbitrators.  Parties can agree to ACICA undertaking this function either in the contract between them, or after a dispute arises. Further information in relation to ad hoc appointments made pursuant to the agreement of the parties, can be found here.
