Deputy Secretary-General
The Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) seeks applications for the role of Deputy Secretary-General, based in Sydney, to support its continued growth.
ACICA is Australia’s international arbitral institution and exercises statutory functions under various legislation. It has recently been recognised internationally as a leading and growing arbitral institution in the wider region. ACICA is a modern, innovative and diverse institution.
Key Duties/Tasks
- Supervision of case administration (supervising Counsel and Associates in case management including tracking deadlines, budgets and approvals)
- Developing an annual strategic business development plan and managing its implementation, which may include:
- Devising key messages
- Preparing marketing materials
- Events planning
- Managing communications and publications
- Identifying opportunities for growth and development of the organisation
- Considering suitability of membership programs including ways to maintain and attract members
- Promoting the development of the organisation and the use of arbitration through external meetings, speaking engagements and representation on external bodies
- Assisting the Secretary-General and Board Members/other ACICA representatives with public engagements
- Participation at Board Meetings and other ACICA Committee meetings as needed
- Supporting the Secretary-General with ad-hoc matters as directed
Required knowledge/skills
- Deep understanding of international arbitration market domestically and internationally
- Strong network within the arbitration and business community
- Experience at an arbitral institution is beneficial
- Strong commercial acumen
- Proven public speaking and front-facing experience
- Ability to build relationships within the Secretariat and Board, and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise and work efficiently
- Management and mentoring skills
